Hi Everyone,

Got this from Mel Lozano from the Philippines, some details about the
Boracay Open Asian Beach Ultimate this March 2008. If you guys are
interested to join.

Cheers!

Happy New Year everyone!

I'm sure you've heard by now how the Boracay Dragons (who fielded a small
team of 7 players) did last World Beach Ultimate Championships in Brazil. In
case you haven't heard, our Bora boys finished 2nd in the Open Division,
winning every individual award in the competition (go Kristian!). They may
be no. 2 in the world, but in our neck of the woods, the Dragons have been
undefeated for 4 straight years. Many have tried, non have succeeded...
now, the question is -- do YOU have what it takes to actually beat the boys
on their hometurf?

Bora Open 2008 will be happening on 8-9 March. And in case you need some
more prodding, here's why you should go:

1. Boracay is one of the top 10 beaches in the world. The WORLD people. This
is according to Yahoo, some travel site in the UK, and Richard Simmons.
2. Early March is just the start of the summer season, so it's not too hot
and not crowded at all. Meaning you have the beach to yourselves and rates
are still cheap.
3. There are heaps of flights that now fly into Boracay from Manila or Cebu.
If you want to go straight to the island (via a short boat ride), you can
fly to Caticlan from Manila or Cebu via Sea Air, Air Philippines, Asian
Spirit, and Cebu Pacific. I know that Asian Spirit now has promo fares into
Caticlan for only P6,000 return -- roughly US$130. If you are REALLY being
cheap you can fly into Kalibo from Manila or Cebu via Cebu Pacific or Air
Philippines (and then take a 2-hour bus ride into Caticlan) for only US$100.

4. You can fly into Manila for cheap via Cebu Pacific -- our favorite budget
airline.
5. The competition is great, and the parties are awesome. Play all day and
pass out on the beach at night. Nice.
6. Awesome sunsets, island hopping, beach massages, happy hour, mango rum
shakes... the list goes on and on.
7. Because of the Dragons' showing in Brazil, a number of white dudes from
that tourney are actually coming over to make the competition a lot more
interesting this year.
8. You get the chance to play for 2nd in the tourney. And if you're lucky,
actually win!
9. If you actually beat the Dragons, I'm pretty sure Jude Lee of the famous
Hey Jude Bar will probably give you lock, stock, and keys to his place. Just
kidding. Although I know Jorve would love this proposition.

If you have any queries regarding places to stay or airline bookings, you
can email Lian (who plays for the Dragons) at bookingsboracay at yahoo.com.
They have the most extensive list of hotels/hostels for EVERY budget and
will be most happy to help you out.

Website and pre-registration will be up soon :)

Cheers,
Mel
